Founding Engineer

Thankly builds branded shopping apps that run inside AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) so shoppers can ask in conversation, get product recommendations from a brand's catalog, and check out without leaving the chat. The Founding Engineer will build the platform and client apps using React, Vite, Express, TypeScript, Supabase and Postgres. What you’ll do
- Build platform and client apps from technical designs
- Build RL environments for shopping agents including tasks, scoring rubrics and automated graders
- Own UX patterns for shopping inside AI conversations (product designer role described separately)
What they’re looking for
- 3+ years of full-time experience (Founding Engineer and Product Designer roles)
- Build with AI coding tools like Claude Code or Codex every day (Founding Engineer)
- Experience with LLM evaluation, reward design or AI training data is a plus (RL Environments)
- Portfolio required for Product Designer
