Contact details on a resume

What a recruiter needs to reach you, what to leave off, and how to keep your phone number and address off a public page.

A recruiter needs one reliable way to reach you, and a place to see more of your work. Everything else is optional.

Include

  • Name, as you'd like to be addressed.
  • Email: a plain, professional address.
  • Phone, if you're happy to be called.
  • City and country: enough to show whether you're local or open to relocating.
  • A link or two: LinkedIn, GitHub, a portfolio, a personal site.

Leave out

  • Your full street address.
  • Date of birth, marital status, nationality and photos, unless they're customary for the country you're applying in.
  • Several phone numbers and emails.

A public resume, privately

A resume page on jsonresume.org is public. In Settings you can keep your email, phone or street address off the page and its downloads, while your resume keeps them for applications you send yourself.
