Work Experience

VanderHouwen
Vancouver, WA
June 2020 – July 2021
Consultant Report Writer
I was on the software engineering team for VanderHouwen’s client, Panther Systems. While there, I worked towards converting 300 Crystal Reports to SSRS and participated in the software life cycle through Azure DevOps (Azure Boards, Repos, Pipelines, and Test Plans). I used Microsoft Dynamics CRM to interact with data from the CRM system, Azure DevOps, and document workflows and analytical tools. Using Visual Studio, SSMS, and SSRS, I improved analytical tools to achieve more significant results and awareness.
Highlights
  • Helped implement security measures for one of Panther System’s customers by converting all the customer’s reports to work with Transport Layer Security (TLS).
  • Collaborated with other key architecture roles to ensure the new SSMS database design and Git locations of reports met the business objectives. Migrated, revised, and produced 93 stored procedures, 37 functions, and 60 SSRS reports to the new database.
  • Built parameterized reports involving Sub Reports, Matrices, Expressions, and Graphs using SSRS.

  • Tracked KPIs and identified business improvement trends with SSMS.
  • Evaluated analytical solutions through exploratory data analysis to improve and achieve more significant results.
PeaceHealth

Analyzed data in enterprise-wide systems for Epic Data Modules, Ambulatory, EpicCare Inpatient, and ASAP. Led and participated in discovery analysis meetings to customer requests. Built and deployed data visualizations, ad-hoc reports, and report schedules/subscriptions using SSMS, SSRS, Tableau, EPIC, Crystal Reports, and SAP BusinessObjects InfoView.
Highlights
  • Extracted data from internal data warehouses and source systems to develop comprehensive operational and clinical performance measures, leading to 10 – 20% efficiency improvement.
  • Built HCC tables to map HCC codes in SSMS and provided analytical solutions on the data.
The Vancouver Clinic

Insight Global
Vancouver, WA
October 2014 – December 2014
Data Analyst
Worked on The Vancouver Clinic’s quality initiatives team as a contract employee for two months before being offered a full-time position with the company. The purpose of the quality initiatives team was to validate the clinical quality measures within the clinic’s EHR system, EPIC, before reporting the data to obtain an incentive payment.
Highlights
  • Researched the required Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) codes through the value set authority center and developed SQL scripts within SSMS that pulled patient-specific information based on these codes.
  • Verified SQL scripts matched the CMS requirements and reported data discrepancies to team members.

Senior Project: Uniform Data System Process Re-design
I collaborated with OCHIN and Klamath Open Door (KOD) on an effective method to obtain a monthly data extract from Epic’s EHR system. I programmed SSMS to perform a monthly ETL job property by pulling the data extract from the FTP server. I engineered an annual Uniform Data System (UDS) report through Crystal Reports and integrated it into Pentaho to create an online view for the user.
