Work Experience

  • Software Engineering Co-op,

    Jan, 2018 - Aug, 20191 year 7 months

I was a member of the Transactions Core team. My role was to improve the customer experience with Quickbooks Online (QBO). This included bug fixes and story development in the core codebase. By the end of my co-op, I was able to bring a real impact to the organization. I lead training classes on our automation testing framework and helped kill manual regression testing. I implemented a notifications feature on the main dashboard.

    • Implemented a “Whats New” notification feature on Quickbooks Online’s main dashboard using React

    • Fixed 20+ customer impacting defects in the core codebase touched by millions of users each day

    • Taught automation testing training classes of up to 40+ people

  • Process Computing Co-op,

    May, 2017 - Aug, 20173 months

At AK Steel, I was a member of the Blast Furnace Process Control Team. My job was to take an outdated web application and rebuild it from the ground up using modern tools and technology. I started this project by setting up a new windows server virtual machine. Afterwards I set up the back-end framework for the web application using PHP to connect to an oracle database. Then I designed the front-end using bootstrap and jQuery. Because this was such a big project, I was unable to finish in my time with AK Steel, but I provided the necessary documentation so that the next developer can pick up from where I left off.

  • Enterprise Architecture Co-op,

    Aug, 2016 - Dec, 20163 months

I was part of the Enterprise Architecture Team working on Self Service Analytics and the Toyota Data Center Migration. In Self Service Analytics, my goal was to turn ordinary users into citizen data scientists by giving them the resources and training to effectively analyze and present data in an easy to understand format. The main tools I used for this are Microsoft PowerBI and R for data analysis, and Microsoft SharePoint for distribution of knowledge. For the Data Center Migration, I was an assistant project manager to Tim Holman. I helped out with keeping the project on track and making sure all applications were migrated on time.

    • Led Power BI training classes for 100+ team members at multiple locations across North America

    • Developed Self Service Analytics newsletter for distribution to 600+ individuals

    • Enabled 600% growth in Self Service Analytics user base due to newsletter

  • Web Development Intern,

    May, 2016 - Aug, 20163 months

I was part of the ADF Elimination Project team whose goal was to successfully rewrite three outdated and unsupported mainframe programs into a modern web-application. This project introduced me to web development using Angular JavaScript on the front end and the Spring Framework on the backend.

    • Practiced 11 weeks of AGILE Software Development using SCRUM methodology

    • Facilitated 33% completion of a 14-month project to build new web application

    • Developed front end role authentication using OAuth 2.0
