About

Every day I work hard to become a better software engineer. Passionate and dedicated hard-working fella. I like the feeling when I know I do things which helps people in everyday life

Work Experience

Personal projects
2020 – Present
During the pandemic time, I used some of my saved commuting time to create:
  • Car leasing cost calculator for companies in PL (www.kosztleasingu.pl), the calculator helps calculate tax savings per month based on the car value and monthly installments.
  • Plant-monitor - I tend to forget about watering the plants, so with RaspberryPi and some tinkering, I made a watering system for my plant. The Project is divided into 3 parts - python monitor, server, and frontend. Each application can act only with proper permission which means that the issued access token for the python monitor can be used to perform REST call to save data, but cannot be used to retrieve data back on the fronten. www.plantmonitor.cloud

  • A first small contribution to the Open Source Quarkus project. I need to have the Quarkus JIB extension being able to set USER in a docker image using application.properties. Pull request
Highlights
  • Java 11, Quarkus, OAuth2, Vue.js, Docker, Traefik, Maven, ovh.com
Infopulse Poland
November 2019 – Present
Senior Software Engineer
I work mainly on an eCommerce platform - my focus is on 2 parts specifically:
  • Configuration platform - message brokers across the company fetch configuration from the configuration platform and use it to distribute data between network file shares, make REST/SOAP calls to other systems, save it to files, etc.
  • Transaction log - the message brokers upload metadata about sent messages, later data is aggregated and displayed on UI. This flow uses Kappa architecture. Data is collected by exposed APIs, then forwarded to topics, aggregated by processors to one common format, and consumed (saved) to a DB.

Another small assignment I take care of is a small utility app that validates whether if received Associated Signature Containers are signed by a trusted party. Application is written in Java 8 and Microprofile. Apart from the validation of a detached signature, I made it possible to perform Online Certificate Status Protocol check and validate the chain of certificates.
Responsibilities:

  • Internal trainings
  • R&D with DevOps
  • Requirement gathering and implementation
  • Code reviews
  • Unit/Integration Tests
Highlights
  • Java 11, Quarkus, OAuth2, Resteasy, JUnit5, Vue.js, Maven, Keycloak, Open Policy Agent, Docker, Argo, Jenkins/Tekton, Azure

The goal was to create a system with the ability to automatically classify user’s text input for eg. a forum. I took data from StackExchange (XML), converted it into an efficient parquet format with Spark's help. After completing these steps I created a notebook where data was split into training/test, RNN model was created. I created the EC2 instance with GPU support for TensorFlow to efficiently and quickly train the network. The overall result was satisfying - 75% accuracy achieved on a very imbalanced dataset. The model was trained to predict 5 most occurring tags.
Highlights
  • AWS, Jupyter notebook, Spark, Keras, TensorFlow, Scikit learn
Viacom International Media Network Poland
June 2018 – October 2019
Associate Software Engineer
I helped create Authorization Server (AS) which is a crucial component being used by many internal company apps. One of the biggest challenges was to provide PKCE param validation (at the time of creating Spring Security OAuth didn’t provide it) and also refreshing the underlying tokens when app requested to refresh token issued by AS. Later I worked on big data project which purpose was to gather Web Beacons from various apps and provide continue watch functionality - switch between displaying devices and continue from the same point in time.

Responsibilities:

  • Internal trainings
  • Requirement gathering and implementation
  • Identification and resolution of bugs
  • Code reviews
  • Unit/Integration Tests
  • Refactorings
Highlights
  • Spring boot, AWS, Docker, K8S, Gradle, OAuth2, PostgreSQL
Netcompany
September 2017 – May 2018
Consultant
I was developing CRM for the danish betting company. It involved various platform integrations with other systems along with data migration from other legacy systems. I also implemented logic which allowed me to determine if clients of the betting company should be allowed to sell products based on information gained on technical sessions with business.

Responsibilities:

  • Requirement gathering and implementation
  • Client demonstrations
Highlights
  • Salesforce, REST
Lufthansa Systems Poland
April 2016 – August 2017
Software Engineer
I worked on a logistics system for a german customer. Assigned to the core team where I was developing core functionalities related mainly to vessel schedules and port-terminal operations. One of the biggest achievements was to integrate messages sent from middleware to the app which then allowed to provide up-to-date vessel position on the waters and show when terminal operations are going to start/end.

Responsibilities:

  • Requirement gathering and implementation
  • Identification and resolution of bugs
  • Code reviews
  • Unit/Integration Tests
  • Refactorings
Highlights
  • JEE 7, EJB, JIBX, JBoss, Git, Gerrit, Jenkins, JUnit, JMS, EclipseLink
MCX Systems
June 2015 – August 2017
Software Engineer
I worked on software for fintech companies. I helped deliver a solution for one top bank in Poland. The software was designed to maintain software for credit card terminals that belonged to clients. Apart from that, the whole system was integrated with a gateway that allowed to collect points for transactions and give some bonuses to well-performing clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Requirement gathering and implementation
  • Identification and resolution of bugs
  • Code reviews
  • Unit/Integration Tests
  • Refactorings
  • Client demonstrations
  • Integrations with other systems
Highlights
  • Java 8, Vaadin 7, JUnit, Hibernate, MySQL, Maven, JSF, Spring(MVC, Security, REST)
