  The API Frameworks team sought a language-agnostic approach for building cross-cutting functionality. Deployed the logic in Envoy service mesh sidecars and a standalone service. The project's "write once, run everywhere" success inspired other teams to use similar architectural patterns.

  • Led team of 6. Scoped work, wrote project definition and eng design docs, aligned stakeholders, and facilitated technical discussions.

  • Wrote Go, Lua to capture high volume of incoming requests, process payloads, and emit logs and metrics. Java to deploy Envoy configuration changes

  • Contributed to Envoy open source project in C++ to enable nonblocking HTTP calls and high resolution timestamps.

  A national Canadian telecommunications company had 10 weeks to automate their order process in time for the Apple iPhone launch, their second highest-traffic event of the year. Built greenfield API platform to fully automate the process from personalized pricing and offers to order submission and warehouse fulfillment.

  • Role responsibilities: team management, requirements analysis, dependency analysis, work breakdown, API design facilitation, story mapping, storytelling, showcases.

  • Worked closely with four different teams in four locations. Teams adopted consumer driven contract tests.

  • Service able to sustain heavy load; we were the only telco with uninterrupted uptime on iPhone launch night.

  • Grew team from 6 to 12 engineers.

  • After peak season, moved to the UI side to act as their lead. In addition to the above role responsibilities, worked in tight collaboration with designers to create new flows and update the website's look and feel.

  Startup planned to unveil a system connecting its food recognition capabilities with its recipe database and new partnership with an appliance manufacturer in an aggressive timeline.

  • iOS (Swift), Android, Python to connect to wifi-enabled appliances and run smart multi-step cooking programs.

  • Developed a Swift iOS application front-end, PHP back-end API to retrieve recipe information, and a Java back-end to cook the recipes on a wifi-enabled oven. Built the system to be robust to events on each end (e.g. pausing/resuming cooking, changes in oven cavity temperature).

  • Scaled out the dynamic cooking service with Docker and AWS.
