Projects Experience

  • Personal Website

    Jul, 2021 - Jul, 20211 day

    • Amazing personal project to gain experience with so many different technologies
    • The webserver resides in Azure on a B1S vm instance running Docker on Linux Debian to make use of Azure's great pay-as-you-go plan which ends up costing me $0 per month to run while having the up-time/availability in the cloud vs an on-prem server. It also provided me hands-on experience with docker deployment and Linux server administration
    • The website is running on Wordpress and secured via SSL using a combination nginx, certbot, mariadb, and php. I make use of the free SSL-like service from Cloudflare to eliminate costs. I get the experience, and also a personal website, without any financial costs or worries
  • Ventibot - Discord bot written in Python

    Nov, 2020 - Nov, 20201 day

    • Created and developed an original bot for Discord
    • Great project and experience for my Python development
    • Bot makes use of multiple libraries to accomplish many different tasks for end users
      • Web scraping was originally developed using BeautifulSoup4, the scraped data was organized into a .csv file which would track new chapters of manga as they were uploaded, then form an embed posted to a #manga-updates IRC channel. It was redeveloped using the Selenium web driver in order to avoid bot detection and web scraping protections on websites. The information is now organized into a .json file for better formatting, making it easier to create the embeds when updates were uploaded
      • Self developed "wish simulator," based off the popular mobile gacha game Genshin Impact. I originally had it set up using indexed lists brought in from a .csv file, but that was also redeveloped to use .json files for all the iterables, making it much easier to track changes and updates. All user pull data is calculated in real-time and stored within .json files, end users can use chat command to have an embed created from the stored dictionaries to see their pulls
      • The rest of the chat commands are all handled using the discord.py library to handle requests in real time made by end users
  • Microsoft Intune Deployment

    Oct, 2021 - Oct, 20211 day

    • Set up Azure AD and Microsoft Intune for 70+ user/endpoint tenant using Microsoft 365 E3 licensing
    • Created dynamic device groups to better organize all devices in the tenant (personal vs. company)
    • Built out Windows Autopilot deployment profiles to automate the Out of Box Experience (OOBE) for new employees or when hardware was passed on to new users with Windows Autopilot Reset
    • Configured and uploaded Win 32 app deployments using Microsoft Win32 Content Prep Tool (Microsoft Office 365 apps, Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, LabTech agents, SentinelOne agents, other company apps)
    • Created endpoint security profiles to enforce and track BitLocker encryption on all company laptops along with other security preferences to secure and protect company data
    • Enforced MFA and modern authentication for all clients to secure tenant and end user accounts
    • Scripted app configuration and user customization through Intune
  • Remote Desktop Server Deployment

    Sep, 2021 - Sep, 20211 day

    • Set up remote desktop server and Windows 10 virtual machines for small financial company
    • Both the Windows 10 machines and remote desktop server are hosted on ESXi in company-built data center
    • Connectivity is handled by Opnsense firewall; public facing ports are forwarded to internal RDP port handled by traffic rules on firewall
    • All virtual machines are secured using Duo multi-factor authentication
    • Deployed financial apps (Quickbooks, ProSeries, etc.) on both Win10 VMs for full-time employees and on RDS for part-time employees
    • Quickbook files are handled by Quickbooks server manager on file server which is backed up using StorageCraft ShadowProtect to central BDR
    • BDR is backed up to AWS S3 storage for geo-redudancy using Wasabi
  • Home Lab

    Jul, 2021 - Jul, 20211 day

    • Built out home lab to create a platform to study and practice more at home
    • Stood up an ESXi server to gain experience working with VMWare
    • Deployed VMs, both Windows and Linux, to test out tools and experiment with different setups
    • Windows Server 2016 servers hosting DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, ADFS, Azure AD Connect, and File Services
    • Linux virtual machines involving both networking and automation; I deployed Pi-hole as a primary DNS server, gained experience creating and securing new Linux servers to host game servers, and became more familiar with different Linux distros such as Debian, Ubuntu, and CentOS
