• Site Reliability Engineer, German Edge Cloud

  With the cloud and the edge, the German Edge Cloud has two main markets it competes in. In the cloud, German Edge Cloud provides a managed kubernetes offering based on kkp from kubermatic. This in turn utilizes an openstack instance which manages infrastructure over three datacenters which belong to the company. In the edge market, they offer an edge enabling customers to self-service VMs on the edge through a management software developed by the German Edge Cloud. This is for example used by the Fraunhofer Institute to run compute intensive simulations.

  • Maintaining multiple rancher instances providing cluster access management to the entire company. For this, rancher was set up and monitored. Additionally, all permission management is done through terraform.

  • Development of a production readiness review which is used to engage internal teams in a SRE manner.

  • Engaging internal development teams utilizing the previously outlined production readiness review enabling the teams to increase the reliability of their respective products.

  • Supporting the company's platform on many clusters and providing observabily.

  • Managing the operations center, a product used to provision openstack resources through a simplified UI on customer edges working with the openstack CLI to manage customer workloads.
